PFM Crown & Bridge
Porcelain fused to metal crowns and bridges — manufactured in Shenzhen, China
About PFM Crown & Bridge
Porcelain fused to metal (PFM) crowns and bridges consist of a metal framework cast from dental alloy, with porcelain layered over the outer surface to create a natural tooth appearance. The metal provides strength and structural support while the porcelain gives the restoration its colour and aesthetic finish.
PFM remains one of the most widely prescribed restorations in dentistry due to its combination of strength, durability and acceptable aesthetics. It is particularly well-suited to posterior teeth, longer bridges and cases where maximum strength is required.
Emax Press vs Emax CAD
Non-Precious (Base Metal)
— cobalt chromium alloy. Most commonly used. High strength, cost-effective, suitable for most clinical situations.
Semi-Precious
— alloy containing silver and palladium. Better biocompatibility than non-precious. Suitable for patients with metal sensitivities.
Precious (High Noble)
— gold-based alloy (Argen). Excellent biocompatibility, superior fit. Used when the highest standard is required.
Key Properties
- Metal framework provides excellent compression and tensile strength
- VITA porcelain layered over metal to create natural colour and translucency
- Good marginal fit — metal coping adapts closely to the prepared tooth

Frequently Asked Questions
We manufacture PFM bridges from 3 units up to full arch (14 units). For longer span bridges where all-ceramic may not provide sufficient strength, PFM with a metal framework is a good clinical choice. Please specify the number of units clearly on your prescription.
We work with VITA Classical (A1–D4) and VITA 3D-Master shade systems. You can also send a shade photograph or provide a reference shade tab with the case for colour matching.
Most PFM cases are completed within 6 working days from receipt. Urgent cases can be discussed — contact us before sending the case if you need a faster turnaround.
Yes. All alloys and VITA porcelain materials we use are FDA approved, CE certified and TGA approved medical devices. We can provide material documentation on request for your regulatory register.
